About Crypto Cited

Last updated: October 7, 2026

Crypto Cited explains crypto and everyday money questions for readers in the United States, the United Kingdom and Canada, in plain English and from the official sources.

Why this site exists

Most crypto content online is written to sell you something: an exchange sign-up, a course, a token. The rules that actually matter, such as how your tax authority treats a trade or whether a platform is registered where you live, are published by regulators and tax authorities, but they are spread across long, technical pages. We read those pages, explain them, and link back to them so you can check our work.

Who writes it

Guides are written and maintained by the Crypto Cited editorial team. We are not a bank, a broker, an exchange or a tax adviser, and we don't give personal advice. Our job is to explain what the official sources say, show worked examples, and be clear about what we don't know.

How we check our facts

  • Primary sources only for figures. Tax rates, thresholds, deadlines and rules come from the IRS, HMRC, the CRA, the FCA, the SEC, the CFTC, the Canadian Securities Administrators and other official bodies.
  • Every guide is dated. Each page shows when its figures were last checked and lists its sources at the end.
  • If it isn't clear, we say so. When the official guidance doesn't settle a question, we tell you instead of guessing.

The full process is in our editorial policy. We currently publish 23 guides and add more every month.

How the site is funded

Crypto Cited is free to read and is funded by advertising from Google. Advertisers don't choose or review our content. We don't use affiliate links and we don't accept payment from exchanges, wallets or apps to be featured.
